Main Features

24/7 FTP Account Access
The process by which files are transferred to the web server is called "FTP" (File Transfer Protocol). You have unlimited access via FTP 24 hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure. The File Manager function can be used to do the same things if you are not familiar with FTP.

Control Panel
The Control Panel is your main means of managing your web site and most of the extras in this list are accessible from it. It features easy navigation and access to most of the functions in this list. The Control Panel is divided into three areas: Account Glance, Available Resources, and Options. View the panel here.

File Manager
By clicking this option you can view all the directories and files in your account, as well as change permissions for directories and files, create directories, create and edit files, and upload files from your hard drive to your account. This is a very powerful feature which eliminates the necessity of using telnet or FTP to manage your site.

Mail Manager
This option is where you create and edit accounts, change passwords, forward email to other email accounts, and create autoresponders for your POP3 email accounts. Set up individual, password protected email accounts for all staff or all functions in your organisation in the personalised and branded format of yourname@yourdomain.co.nz. (Quick Note: It is not necessary to create email aliases as your default email account acts as a "Catch All Account", in other words anything@yourdomain.co.nz will be delivered to your default mail account.)

WebMail
You can also use the WebMail application to access your email directly in Internet Explorer or Netscape. Simply enter www.yourdomain.co.nz/webmail (your domain name followed by lowercase "webmail") and login to read and send email. Gives easy access from anywhere and lets you provide simple, secure access to other user mailboxes that you choose to setup. Check out the User Guide (in pdf format).

PGP Mail
PGP = Pretty Good Privacy. Allows you to send and receive email securely.

Secure Server
We provide you the use of our Secure Certificate free of charge. Essential if you wish to set up an e-commerce site with secure transaction facilities.

MySQL Database
MySQL is a database engine that you can use with your web site. This feature of the Control Panel will allow you to create one MySQL database, and manage it. You will be able to add/edit/delete tables, fields, and values. You can also run queries on the database if you need to. See the MySQL site for further information.

PHP
A third party server-side scripting language which can be integrated into html scripts to access the MySQL database and other nifty operations. See the PHP3 site for further information. It is a very extensive scripting language and anyone with programming skills will be amazed at what it is capable of. There are hundreds of PHP scripts available for free download and customisation.

Real Cgi-Bin
CGI stands for "Common Gateway Interface," a fancy name meaning computer programs running on the web server that can be invoked from a www page at the browser. The "bin" part alludes to the binary executables that result from compiled or assembled programs. It is a bit misleading because cgi's can also be Unix shell scripts or interpreted languages like Perl. CGI scripts need to be saved in ASCII format and uploaded to your server's cgi-bin in ASCII or text format. The File Manager may be used to assign permissions to scripts to allow them to function correctly. There are a wealth of scripts freely available for download from the Internet.

FrontPage Extensions
Many of the options in your Control Panel will NOT work with FrontPage Extensions installed. We are unable to provide you with any type of support regarding its use. We provide FP Extensions as a courtesy to those that know how to use it and prefer it over other methods of designing web sites.

HTTP Stats
We use HTTP Analyze to view all the traffic to your site. It shows the number of hourly, daily, monthly, annual hits, sessions, downloads, visting browser and URL stats, top referring domains, most requested files, and more.

Password Protected Directories
This Option is not available for FrontPage users. The Protect Directory Option in your Control Panel allows you to restrict access to a particular directory within your account. You can restrict access by assigning usernames and passwords to individuals whom you nominate.

Anonymous FTP
Virtual domain account users can allow anonymous FTP access to visitors wishing to download or upload files to your web site as if you were running your own FTP server.

Counters
This option within your Control Panel will allow you to install a counter on your web pages. Once installed you can edit the number of hits and the style of the counter itself.

Redirect URL
The redirect option allows you to forward visitors to your domain to another URL or visitors to particular pages of your domain to another URL. This URL may be both internal or external to your domain.

SSH/Telnet
If you need telnet access to our servers, it can only be done using SSH. We have it set up to use RSA authentication. You will need to create a key using SSH software, then use this feature to upload the key to our servers. Once it is uploaded, you will be able to connect to our servers using SSH.

Search Engine
This option allows you to install the Webglimpse search engine on your web site. This option allows you to select the directories you wish to be included in searches, and lets you index your web site all at the touch of a button, creating a search page which can be customised to meet your needs.

Mime Types
MIME = Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. You CAN NOT use this option with FrontPage Extensions installed. You will have to use FrontPage to perform this function. This option allows you to add Mime Types to your account.
